""Jennifer has been such a benefit to me personally allowing me to be successful [and] to the company. She's become a backstop for me. She knows she can hold me accountable for what I'm committing to her and vice versa. That has really benefited us in incredible ways. It's really helped me kind of take things to the next level.""

The Challenge

Danny Dura, CEO and co-founder of Graphium Health, had fallen into a trap familiar to many founders: the belief that a good leader must personally control everything. Over time, that instinct had become a liability — wearing him down and limiting his ability to scale. As Danny put it,

"Over time, you get this idea that as a CEO you have to do everything right. It's fairly pervasive; it's natural – it's a part of who we are. In some sense, we like having control over a lot of things. But that ends up in a situation where we can really wear ourselves down pretty quickly by taking on more than we probably should."

Danny came to see that delegation wasn't a weakness — it was a strategic advantage.

"As you embark on a journey of delegation as I did, you start to learn very quickly that there's an incredible efficiency that comes from finding the right people to do some of these tasks – and that there's actually very little you can't delegate."

Ready to act, Danny posted job listings on multiple platforms and ran a structured hiring process, including video submissions. Despite a solid response, he couldn't find what he was looking for. He needed someone he could trust immediately — someone willing to dive in fast and take on significant responsibility. Frustrated with traditional hiring, he turned to a Google search and discovered BELAY.

The Solution

After connecting with BELAY, Danny was matched with Virtual Assistant Jennifer Brownell. The fit was clear from the start. Graphium Health had a deliberately cultivated internal culture, and Jennifer matched it instantly — bringing a no-nonsense, high-initiative approach that aligned perfectly with Danny's own style.

"We have a very defined company culture that we protect, and Jennifer was an instant culture fit. She really wanted to dive in. She kind of had a no-nonsense way about her that matches with my personality. And so Jennifer came and instantly, she knocked it out of the park. She took direction very well. She took my feedback well."

What sealed the relationship wasn't just Jennifer's competence — it was her hunger to keep taking on more.

"She just started asking for more. That was [when] I knew we had a great fit [because] she had the hunger to take more on. I knew immediately she was going to be with us for the long term because she's the kind of person we like working with."

The results didn't go unnoticed. Danny's VP of Operations, John, watched the transformation unfold and decided he wanted the same level of support. Graphium Health brought on a second BELAY Virtual Assistant, Tessa, who proved equally exceptional and quickly became an integral part of the team.

""These are team members. These are people we trust with projects as we would any other employee in our company.""

The Impact

What Danny had first imagined as simple calendar and email management evolved into something far more meaningful. Jennifer Brownell became his de facto project manager — not just organizing his schedule but holding him accountable, managing his inbox with genuine skill, and helping drive results across the organization.

"Jennifer has been such a benefit to me personally allowing me to be successful [and] to the company. She's become a backstop for me. She knows she can hold me accountable for what I'm committing to her and vice versa. That has really benefited us in incredible ways. It's really helped me kind of take things to the next level."

Both Jennifer and Tessa had grown well beyond traditional assistant roles — becoming trusted contributors across multiple areas of the business.

"Suddenly these people are contributing in incredibly meaningful ways in the company, not just as assistants. These are team members. These are people we trust with projects as we would any other employee in our company."

Danny's only regret was not making the move sooner. Even the basics would have made a difference — but the reality far exceeded his expectations.

"I'm mad I didn't do this earlier. Had I just had someone good at managing my calendar and setting up appointments and managing my expenses, that would've been a win, no doubt about it. That would have really freed up some time. But it's so much more than that."
