Our Story
BELAY Origins
The Moment
Bryan and Shannon Miles founded BELAY and hired Tricia Sciortino as its first employee and Virtual Assistant after recognizing the need for virtual assistant services to help leaders who needed part-time, remote support.
Expansion to For-Profit Sector
The Moment
Michael Hyatt, a key influencer in the small business market, became a client after being referred by a pastor client on Twitter. Hyatt’s influence accelerated BELAY’s growth and prompted a shift to serving both churches and the for-profit sector.
Rebranding and Growth
The Moment
BELAY became two brands: EA Help–Focused on virtual assistant services, & MAG Bookkeeping–Offered bookkeeping services. The company was first recognized on the Inc. 5000 list as one of the fastest-growing companies.
Expansion of Services
February 2015
Launched Render, a website management and security services brand.
November 2015
Introduced Ellipsis, a virtual writing company. By the end of the year, BELAY operated five companies with separate websites, financials, and leadership teams.
Unification Under BELAY

On January 1, 2017, all five brands were consolidated into one organization under the name BELAY.
New Leadership
The Moment
In January 2020, founders Bryan and Shannon Miles left the day-to-day operations of BELAY, promoting Tricia Sciortino to CEO. BELAY continued to emphasize its remote-first culture, focusing on shared vision and values rather than shared spaces.
Acquisitions
The Moment
In 2024, BELAY strategically expanded its Accounting Services footprint by acquiring three distinguished CFO/controller companies to deliver scalable, top-tier CFO and controller services.
Present & Future
The Moment
BELAY acquired two additional accounting firms, further expanding its Accounting Services depth to support organizations at every stage of growth. BELAY also embraced AI to empower its professionals with human-driven, AI-enabled efficiencies—streamlining operations, automating tasks, and delivering real-time insights that amplify expertise, multiply efficiency and returns, and help clients focus on scaling their organizations.
